freehand machine embroidery / epoxy resin

Probably the most complex design ever made with water-soluble fabric. The faces are small, and I needed to preserve their expression and their intensity. It is the moment of maximum tension for me when I loosen the fabric and try to keep the shape. The decision is mine, but only up to a certain point. There is a silent struggle. Sometimes so much work ends in a pile. When I was working on this, I prayed to the threads. I prayed for the importance of the subjects that I wanted to encase in resin. They were free not to listen to me. They had to listen to everything else. But when I dipped the work in the resin, everything suddenly went up in smoke. Real smoke, you couldn't see anything. Everything burned, including the embroidery.

Everything crystallised in an instant.

At first I thought I had lost everything. Then I realised that this feeling was exactly hers.

"Kalyna" A plant with bitter red berries, a symbol of the hundred years of bloodshed for the freedom of the Ukrainian people.
